Tonight a program of brand new releases and a recent acquisition and a snippet from one of Little Rock Folk Club's forthcoming performers. The first set comprises performers with 
whom I was unfamiliar prior to attending the 4th annual Fayetteville AR Roots Festival and who I am sure listeners will agree deserve wider recognition: John Fullbright from Oklahoma 
is simply a force of nature and it is indeed some time since a performer has left me so totally gob-smacked by their performance; Raina Rose from Portland OR, but now resident in 
Austin, also put on an impressive performance singing songs that engage your attention and delivered with a voice that would demand my attention even if only reading from a telephone directory; and latterly Ben Bedford, an Illinois singer songwriter who, accompanied by his wife Kari, performed an impressive set from his repertoire of literate songs. The second set features brand new release from Si Kahn, with whom I had the great pleasure and honor of sharing a stage during the 2011 Arkansas Literary Festival, on this release he visits some of his great classic songs accompanied by the Loopin Brothers - a well-respected trio of bluegrass musicians from Germany; from south of the border down Louisiana way comes Ganey Arsement who lives in Lake Charles, LA and who performs a roux of Cajun and East Texas Country Blues even while composing primarily in French; Americana singer/songwriter Aoife O'Donovan has spent the last 10 years heading up the celebrated string band Crooked Still and with this release she makes her debut as a clearly confident solo performer; and closing our program a tickler for next week's program with a track from the latest cd from the excellent Peter Janson who will be in concert with LRFC Sat Oct 5th accompanied on that occasion by local guitar maestro Steve Davison for an evening of acoustic guitar heaven.
