Lowell Levinger: The original "Hippie From Olema", Californian multi-instrumental wizard, additionally known as Banana from
The Youngbloods, with a bluegrass/folk music CV including 20 years with Mimi Farina, Zero, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks and
psychedelic rock forays with Barry "The Fish" Melton Band amongst many others. On this release his guests include Ry Cooder
and David Grisman while the material covers the music that inspired him as a budding musician including Ray Charles, Michael
Hurley and John Hiatt amongst others;
Blackbeard's Tea Party - 2009 debut release from this excellent sextet who seem to have had their harmonic convergence at
York University where they initially began as buskers! Comprising a melange of fiddle, electric and acoustic guitar,
electric bass, percussion, sousaphone, trombone and melodeon BTP produce exciting folk-rock that includes Irish tunes,
contemporary song and their own compositions that traverse terrain that will sound not unfamiliar to Bellowhead fans;
The Wilson Family: a re-issue with an additional track of their 1991 vinyl only release from this Teeside, UK, 6 piece a
capella family powerhouse with strong history of social conscience and activism over a thirty year journey that has seen
them appear at all of the major festivals and folk clubs despite their non-professional musician status which they retained
in order to pursue their individual professional careers. Dyed in the wool traddies with a respect for contemporary songs of
social significance and relevance, who along with Martyn Wyndham-Read championed the excellent songs of the late Teeside
poet/songsmith Graeme Miles, this release sees them combine strong traditional material such as 'John Barleycorn' and 'The
Jolly Ploughboys' alongside Dick Gaughan's 'Think Again',Ian Walker's 'Hawks And Eagles' and the Rudyard Kipling/Peter
Bellamy 'Steamers' sung with passion and conviction;
The Blushin' Roulettes: 3 years in planning and perfecting the Old Mill Sessions features singer/songwriter/guitarist Angie
Heimann and recording engineer/dobro player Cas Sochacki aided and abetted by select friends including parlor pianist Luke
Stone, old pub guitarist Buddy Stubbs, drummer Jubal Stedman, with Kate Lawler on cello and Gwyneth Moreland on harmony
vocals the album features songswith catchy rhythms and engaging lyrics delivered by Heimann's sultry vocals;
