The Albion Band - "There are a number of ghosts who
inhabit the songs on this album. In no particular order of appearance they
include: John Donne (Heart), William Shakespeare (Tomorrow, Dancing under
the Rose, and more), Eugene O'Neill (Tomorrow), Jackson Browne and George
Eliot (Words), and Dave Whetstone (everything)." - original album

Wolf Hall S/T - "The soundtrack to BBC/PBS
television series “Wolf Hall” brings King Henry VIII’s
court to life with dances and songs from the early 16thC – some of
which were composed by the monarch himself. Filmed in the great historic
houses in England, the series features specialist period musicians playing
live on set. All the Tudor Music for the production has been carefully
sourced and arranged by Claire van Kampen, and
recorded with the Musicians of Shakespeare’s Globe at the famous
Abbey Road Studios, London, England." - VIA website

Trad Attack! - "Trad.Attack! is the winner of
ESTONIAN MUSIC AWARDS 2014 - Ethno/Folk album of the year, Music Video of
the year - and ESTONIAN ETHNO MUSIC AWARDS 2014 - Best Band, Best Album,
Best Song, Best Newcomer and Radio 2 special award! Trad.Attack!
takes inspiration from old archive recordings and
from the music of today. Folk music is their starting point but not their
boundary: they remain open in ears, mind and soul to different styles and
new directions whilst maintaining their emotional roots-heart. Sandra, Jalmar and Tõnu have
long been good friends, and have been active on the Estonian music scene
for more than fifteen years. Surrounded by traditional music all her life,
Sandra first picked up the Estonian bagpipe when she was thirteen. Jalmar is of the Seto people.
Setomaa, a small community in the south of
Estonia, has its own a king and distinctive culture, and is particularly
well known for its traditional singing. His great-great grandmother, Anne Vabarna, was one of the most famous folk singers in
Estonia, so he has grown up in this tradition. Tõnu’s
father is the conductor of a brass orchestra, so he was playing brass
before he could walk. He took up classical trombone and drums, and is now
one of the most in-demand drummers in Estonia." - Artists' website
Swinging The Lead - "The guys are inspired by over
300 years of listening and playing between them and they bounce musical
ideas off each other with gusto and panache. Joyful exuberance and
exhilaration push all of them to new musical heights as they take the
audience along with them on the trip. The antidote to boy bands."
"Purveyors of Shanties and Songs of the Sea
“Stop swinging the lead and get on with it” cried the mate. The
best we could do was to break into song, and so Swinging the Lead was
launched." - Artists' website

Amy Speace - “Amy Speace channels the classics,” writes Billboard
Magazine of
her latest release “That Kind Of Girl”. Jon Pareles of The New York Times described the record as
“grace over drama” and No Depression wrote “The next time
someone tells you they don’t make good music anymore, tell them they
must not have heard of Amy Speace. She is a
timeless singer/songwriter who has captured this writer’s attention
with a record which should be a topic of debate on several year-end award
lists.“
Recorded in East Nashville with producer Neilson Hubbard and a small
ensemble of musicians, the record is spare and direct, honest and
focused. Holly George-Warren,
celebrated author and music critic, calls it “breathtaking.”
And just as critics were raving about her new album, she was hired by The
New York Times' Financial Section to write an original song and an
accompanying essay about the financial challenges of being an artist. The song,
"Spent" was featured on NPR's "Marketplace." She has also written pieces for The
Nashville Scene, Blue Rock Review, Performing Songwriter Magazine, among
others." - Artist's website
Brishen - "Nominated for
five 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards: Instrumental Album of the Year,
Ensemble of the Year, World Group of the Year, New Emerging Artist of the
Year and Young Performer of the Year!
BRISHEN is fronted by one of Canada's most exceptional
young musicians,
eighteen year old award winning multi-instrumentalist Quinn Bachand, on
lead guitar, violin and tenor banjo. The stellar Brishen line-up also features Richard Moody, a veteran of the Canadian folk music
scene, on violin and viola, Reuben Wier on rhythm
guitar and vocals and Joey Smith on upright bass. Quinn Bachand's
BRISHEN, with its virtuosity and soul, is much more than a Django-esque cover band.
Brishen recreates the magic of Django
Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Hot Club de
France for an unforgettable musical experience,
and in the process brings gypsy jazz into the 21st century and to a whole
new generation of discerning music lovers." Artists' website
In the last several months I have seen Quinn perfrom live with BRISHEN and the Jeremy Kittel Trio,
and featured his traditional duo side, with his sister Qristina,
in last week's program... in all formats he is simply spell-binding!
Natasha Borsilova - "From
her early days as a classically trained child guitar prodigy, Natasha Borzilova has consistently created music that says
something, and in a fresh way. That hasn’t changed with Wilder Days,
her self-produced fourth solo release and her most personal
collection yet. Since the 2006 disbanding of Bering Strait the group of
genre-defying Russian wunderkinds that brought her from Russia to America,
spawning critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination, a 60 Minutes profile and a
documentary film ? Borzilova has remained busy: as
writer, recording artist, yoga instructor and, most importantly,
mother." - Artist's website
